    Don't really know if this should be on the help board, but it does concern computer help, although I don't need any at the mo!

    A friend of mine just rang. He has had trouble today accessing the internet. He has had his laptop for about 15 months, has a broadband connection and has had the same antivirus installed all this time. Today is the first day he has had access problems.
    He rang the technical support peeps at his ISP. They asked him if he had an antivirus program installed. He said yes, but did not give the brand name. The tech support person told him to turn his AV off, as anti virus programmes conflict with broadband and he should not try to access the internet while it is on. :(

    Where do the get these so called experts? :(

    Lucky for him he took no notice of that moron then!!

    If I were him I'd ring back/write in and complain.

      I told him to do just that and to tell them that if he could not expect better advice from their help centre, that he would change ISP.
      Hope that he does.
