  • 1891 census check please

I think I have just worked out who one of the witnesses were to a wedding. Could somebody check the wifes name of Richard James Hayzelden. Hoping his wife is Lucy born 1861 Loose Kent.

This would make Richard Uncle to the bride
    Thank you

Lucy Hazelden witha yellow triangle by it, bear with me.

    right

    the household reads

    Richard Coppins 69
    Eliza Hazelden 5
    John Hazelden 1
    Lucy Hazelden 30
    Richard Hazelden 29

BUT the yellow triangle changes Lucys name to COPPPINS

she appears to be married to Richard H though, Richard C is noted as Father in Law

Paul threw me into confusion as he says Richard C is Lucys father......

Maybe Richards real name is Coppins or his mother remarried or something like that...
At least I now know who the witness was.
                Thanks

                    right dont be taken in

here is marriage of Lucy Jnr- you were right

Name: Richard James Hayzelden /Lucy Freeman
                    1883
                    Oct-Nov-Dec
                    Maidstone
                    Kent
                    Volume: 2a /Page: 1154

Looking at the 1881 I think it is Lucys mother that appears with Mr coppins, along with Lucy Freeman

in 1881 there is a brother Joseph.

o you want me to see if i can see then in 71?< Cant see them!

update: yes i can = transcribed as FRYMAN

                        Eliza Coppin 46
                        Richard Coppin 50
                        Elizabeth Fryman 16
                        Joseph Fryman 7
                        Lucy Fryman 10

Both Lucy and Joseph are listed as '...in-law' which I take to mean 'legally ' as in legally my son/dau

I don't think that Lucy Snr & Richard Coppins were married.....or at least I can't find a marriage for them. Nor can I find a death for Lucy Coppins, but there is a death for Lucy Freeman, aged 58, in Maidstone, Mar qtr 1883 2a/415

Just wondering if Elizabeth died early and William remarried giving Lucy another mother then William died and Lucys mother remarried to Richard Coppins if that makes sense at all.
Just had a look on freebmd and there is a death of an Elizabeth Freeman mar 1845 and there is a marriage of a William Freeman with a lucy Groombridge on the same page Dec 1845
So there could be 2 remarriages involved.

                              1861
                              Eliza Freeman 36
                              Elizabeth Freeman 6
                              James Freeman 12
                              John Freeman 10
                              Lucy Freeman 3 Mo
                              Thomas Freeman 14
                              William Freeman 45
                              William Freeman 16

so there must be a death of William somewhere. and a remarriage of Eliza/Elizabeth/ to Coppin..or as you say, two remarriages

(i have that- two boys appear with their stepmother, after their father has died, then step mum re marries and they still appear with them later as sons)

So what you have found looks like William Freeman died and wife Elizabeth remarried to coppins as that Eliza is the same age as Elizabeth would have been.

                                  got yer!!

                                  no S

                                  Name: Richard Coppin
                                  Year of Registration: 1866
                                  Quarter of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep
                                  District: Maidstone
                                  County: Kent
                                  Volume: 2a
                                  Page: 849

                                  Elizabeth Freeman

                                  so- summing up

lucy born to Elizabeth & william Freeman

                                  William Dies

                                  Elizabeth remarries Richard Coppin

in later years Richard Appears with married Lucy as f-in law, so Lucy's dad (to all intents and purpose) and F in law to head = correct

                                  phew!
