            Hi Christine
I looked at them too, but I think the girls are way too old. Unity should only be 5 in 1861 !!
But fancy two girls called Unity Beeny/Beney.

I wonder if it could be this one from freeBMD
              Marriages Jun 1853
              Been Henry
              Smith Rebecca

The 1851 census shows a Rebecca Smith b 1837 Hadlow Kent.

This could be them as Beney.....Unity is not with them, so will keep looking.

There are two different Beney families on the 1861 census, living next door to each other. Which one is the right one?
Can we have the reference for 1871 please.

                      OK - have found it!

Unity is with them on the image and Henry is 54, they are living in a caravan.

Next family down is another Henry Beney 28 with wife Rebecca

Mary A Smith born c 1840 Hallow, Kent recorded as Sister-in-law

I think that Henry was born in Marden Kent, and Unity is 15 on the 1871 census that is the right family

On the 1861 census there are two Beney families which I have transcribed for you. They are living next to each other - in caravans.

                                Family 1
Henry Beney 28 head born Marden, Kent
                                Rebecca Beney 28 wife
                                William Beney 22 servant
                                Emily Beney 7
                                Mary A Beney 3
                                Thomas Beney 2
                                Walter Beney 7 Mo
Mary A Smith 21 sister in law

                                Family 2
                                Henry Beney 54
                                Louisa Beney 49
                                Unity Beney 23
                                Alfred Beney 17
                                Emily Beney 8
                                Fanny Beney 21
                                Robert Beney 10
                                Walter Beney 12

If it is the first family that you are following then it looks as if the Rebecca Smith marriage is probably the right one as there is a sister in law, Mary Smith, living with them.
