  • Laptop losing Internet connection

I have a wireless router out here in my office .
I recently bought a laptop which is indoors but what keeps happening is I can be online and try to reply to a post and I get the message you are not connected to the internet ??? yet if I go back to the previous page its still connected.
I also look at my talktalk icon on the bottom and it says connected !!
Any ideas please I will be popping in and out all day for any replies.

You are possibly losing your wireless connection not your internet connection.
erm is your wireless connection secure or not. I'm wondering if it's not
    someone is using your connection.

BT just had to send us a new wireless router as the wireless part of it stopped working.
We could only connect when connected with ethernet cables. It's ok now.

Also, my daughters laptop stopped connecting wirelessly. The internal wireless connection was shot. Got around that by buying a wireless adaptor that plugs into the usb socket.

Val, have you tried restarting your laptop and see what happens?

Also, is the PC wireless or wired? Is that connecting ok?

you are all trying to confuse me again arent you.
How do I tell if its secure or not ???
My PC is wired to the same router is that what you mean Margaret ??
This router only came about 3 weeks ago and is fine on my pc just not on the laptop.

On your laptop, right click on the little icon on the bottom right. The tv screen.
It should say "view available wireless networks"

You will get a list of all the wireless networks in range.

It will tell you there which you are connected to and if it's secure or not.

That is what is making me think that the wireless part of it has gone wrong.
If the PC is wired than it won't have the same problem.

              Val

One way to check if it is the wireless part of your router gone wrong is to connect the wire (the ethernet cable with yellow ends- well mine is yellow) to your laptop and see if you get a connection. It will come up as LAN (local area network)
