  • LMA - how long?

I sent an email to the London Metropolitan Archives requesting a search of some asylum records on 28th November. I received an auto response saying that I should expect to wait between 10 and 20 days, but I'm still waiting :(

    Is this normal?

I think it might be because they're closed at the moment (until 21st Jan)

Ah right. I got the impression from the website that even though they're closed for refurbishment you could still make email enquires. Guess I'm just going to have to wait then :(

        Hi Velma

Just checked the site and it does say that the

"Our telephone and distance enquiry service, including our family history research service, will remain in operation during this closure except over the Christmas and New Year period."

Don't know if it includes email enquires, but seeing as their telephone enquiry service is still going, just give them a call and ask.

Yes, thanks Vikki, I think I do need to chase now.

          Thank you

Definitely, I sent an enquiry to Lambeth archives well before Xmas for some records and got an automatic email back saying they were dealing with it. Since then nothing. Luckily it has been sorted by other means since
