    Tough!

I think the officer is a mine officer, and the apprentice is a real difficulty - workhouse? It looks like narchover and I can't think what it could be. Hoping someone else can be more illuminating!

in 1881 John was Clerk at the union office and in 1901 poor law official (local), if that helps

Have you found Henry 1901 - it might explain what he was apprenticed for!

Not yet, there are a couple of possibles, so I was hoping that this occupation might shed some light................not looking good is it?;)

Going to go and have a bath, might help my brain relax, so I can come back with a fresh head (well i'm gonna try)

              Right,

the first one is Mine Officer (johns)

and the other one looks like "wardens apprentice"

thats how it looks to me anyway...

                  Thanks Julie

Wardens apprentice - Hmmmm, doesn't fit with the one possible I found, who is a French Polisher in 1901.
Oh well better keep looking, he's either dead or mistranscribed (again!!!)

Henry's occupation looks like a Warehouse apprentice to me.....not that I have ever heard of anyone being apprenticed to a warehouse before! LOL!
