It might be worth emailing Durham Archives .I seem to remember some of Lanchester census records are missing but not sure if its 1861 census

        1881
how do you know that is 'Your' William?

There is another william Liddle born lanchester on the 1861, born same sort of time that isnt yours ( different parents)

I don't think the 1871 and 1881 are the same family either.

The William Liddle died 1911 Lanchester, has a birth year of about 1849.

Part of Lanchester is missing from the 1861 census, according to our Wiki entry on Missing Census Pages. So your William may well have been in that bit.

There are about half dozen or so William Liddles born Durham between 1850-1860 so watch out - he's certainly not unique.

Arghhhhh - 21 of them if you ask free bmd!

This I think is your William on the 1881 census, under Liddell

This is the same family in 1901.Class: RG13; Piece: 4722; Folio: 42; Page: 6.
