        Thanks Jacky.
Here goes, I cannot find Hodevia Dyer after the 1871 census, where she was living with her family in Cinderford, Forest of Dean.
Apart from a marriage record in September 1879 in Salford.
        She married Thomas Shiers.
After this date, I have not been able to find them it's as if they disappeared.
Your help would be very much appreciated.

on 1861 she is showing up as born in Flaxley aged 2 months

They're still living in Flaxley so I assume this is a more accurate place of birth

Yes, on some census it's Flaxley on others Cinderford.

Have you found a birth for her at all?

If she's two months on 1861 then she'd have been born February - butthere are no Dyer births in Westbury on Severn at all in that quarter.

The 1871 suggests her and brother Frances H G Dyer are twins (both aged 10) but the 1861 census puts him as two years older - but I can't find a birth for him in either.

I'm trawling census for siblings to see if she shows up but no luck so far...

Here's all siblings etc I've found so far to save anyone doubling up

Father William Dyer c1830 Purton WIltshire
Mother Hannah Dyer c1831 Daunsley ? Wiltshire
                Emley S Dyer c1851 Wiltshire
                Sarah A Dyer c1852 Wiltshire
Lucretia Caroline Dyer c1854 East Dean
Amelia Leonora Dyer c1856 East Dean
Frederick William Augustus Dyer c1857 East dean
                Frances H G Dyer c1858 Flaxley
Hodwah B Dyer c1861 (feb) Flaxley
Bertha Louisa Dyer c1863/5 cinderford married George Albert Giles in 1884
                Ann Maria Dyer c1868 cinderford
Simeon Doriah Dyer c1870 cinderford married Florence A Allen in 1892

ernest c1877 grandson (to William and Hannah) westbury
                Zoe in London

I don't have access to the US Ancestry stuff, but there's these people on the 1910 UN census:

                  Hodey Sheers
                  b 1861
                  b in England

                  Thomas Sheers
                  b 1857
                  b in England

living in Essex County, but I haven't yet worked out which State that is in!

In 1900 they are in Essex County again and she is down as Bertha! No other Shiers in the house except hubby.

oh - I think merry has it because someone has added a correction to that census for Hodey Sheers to say the names is Hodey Shiers

Bertha is her middle name - not sure where I saw that - ? marriage registration?

someone has Hodawh B Dwyer in their tree on ancestry - but only have information for her parents so I'd guess they're researching a sibling.

They appear to have taken all their info from census the siblings names match up with census spellings with no middle names

My God, you ladies are amazing.
I have Francis born Cinderford June 1859, but have never found a birth record for Hodevia.
She had a sister Bertha Louisa who moved to America, fancy them having the same name.
Perhaps Francis moved with her because I've never found him after 1871 either.
Looks like I'll have to get Ancestry subs for America then.

Hang on...when I said they had no further family, I probably had England in the "born in" box, so won't have picked up children :o Whoops!

                                      Having said that........

In 1920 they have someone else in the house called Anna Shiers b 1880 in England! Is she their daughter?

I can't see a birth reg in the UK that fits brilliantly, so maybe she wasn't born here.

I'm just going to look at the 1900 again to check for kids!
