  • Export from ancestry

I am trying to export my tree from ancestry.co.uk,

I selected Export and it prepared the file, but when I click on the download GEDCOM icon, it just brings up a list of people, dates and other tecnical bits

How can I save it to my computer so that I can import it to TMG?

    Thanks

        Ah yes!

I think you are having the same problem that Brenmac has encountered. For some reason it will not allow you to download a proper gedcom file directly from Ancestry. I have no idea why this is, whether it is the way your IE is set up (or whatever browser you use). I have contacted Ancestry on Bren's behalf but haven't had a reply yet.

Anyway, download the file and save it to your desktop. Then right click on the file and you should get an option to choose a program with which to open it. Does TMG come up as an option. If so select it and see what happens.
