Heeeeeelp! Millions of copies

Well, not quite but I've got hundreds of the darned things! I'm trying to delete some items from 'My Pictures' file and every time I do it creates a copy of the deleted file. I had this problem once with deleting Word docs from My Documents but I can't remember how I stopped it happening. Help would be appreciated before I go completely bonkers! Anybody know what I've got to do?

Morning! Well, it's been off all night and it's still at it this morning :D I shall use up all the memory on the computer at this rate!

I'm pretty certain there's a tick box somewhere about keeping a backup copy that needs unchecking but there's nothing under tools at all.

Dragging to the recycle bin creates a copy too!

have you tried right clicking on the picture - getting the menu- and then clicking on delete? hope it works!

:D I've tried highlighting and deleting, right clicking and deleting, dragging to the recycle bin. Putting them in a folder and deleting that instead, one at a time, several at once. I just can't get rid of the pics, just create more! I'm going doolally here

only other thing i can think of is to click on help and get to the microsoft help page on internet and see what they suggest -sorry

Thanks, Gwynne, it's annoying me to the extent that I can't concentrate on anything else. I know I'm only making it worse. It's like picking a scab, you can't leave it alone! :D

Has your Ctrl key got stuck?? sometimes mine "sticks" and I get really annoyed!!lol!

Tim says to try holding the shift key down when you try and delete.

What was it? did you have a stuck key?? or did the shift trick work??

The shift key! I did the first and the last while holding it down, highlighted the lot, deleted, and poof! GONE! Such a relief. I've emptied the recycle bin just in case they were plotting to make a return :D Thank you soooo much. I can now get on with other things hahaha!
