  • 1841 census lookup please. Isle of Man

Can anyone help with the 1841 census for Isle of Man? I am looking for John henry Brew born Isle of Man 17/4/1827. It isnt known who his father was but his mother was Jane [maiden name unknown]. John was a shipwright & carpenter, but in 1841 he would be only 14 so hopefully he was still at home. I dont know what part of ISle of Man he was from but I think it was South. I would be very grateful.

Only one family with John Brew Isle of Man, and he doesn't fit with your fellow.

Do you know for sure if the family was at Isle of Man in 1841?

No other John anything born Isle of Man fits.

is this your man in 1851?

          In Patrick ,Isle of Man

          Ann Brew 27
          Ann Brew 12
          Ann Jane Brew 1
          John Brew 24
          John Brew 3 Mo

in 1841 the assumption would be his mother was Catherine

          where has Jane come from?

If he got married then his marriage cert should tell you his father's name - or is that bit blank?

Hi All. This is a problem family [most of mine are]. John married in Nova Scotia in 11/7/1849 so he was gone from isle of Man for 1851 census. I have him in Nova Scotia 1851 census but it is only a head count. There doesnt seem to be a marriage certificate, only a marriage bond [no info]
He came here to Australia in 1853 and his death certificate should give his parents name but it is blank except for his mother being Jane[ maiden name unknown]
