  • Sarah Anne Evans

Hi Can you please help me find Sarah Anne Evans please, She lived around Willenhall Staffordshire and married a John Edwards he was a coal miner. I have no birth dates, but it must have been around the mid to late 1800's My adoptive mum ,Maggie Edwards was born in October 1899 and married Harold Bean in 1922, at some time Sarah Ann re-married ???? I had 2 or 3 Aunts with the surname Walford I hope that you can understand the jumble. I do need to know something about Maggie's Mum and Dad Both Harold and Maggie are now dead.
    Thanks
    Sheila :o

This looks like the second marriage.

            Marriages Q3 1908
            BRINDLEY Harriet Wolverhampton 6b 943
            EDWARDS Sarah Ann Wolverhampton 6b 943 <<<<<<<<<<<
            PEARSON Joseph Wolverhampton 6b 943
            WALFORD Samuel Wolverhampton 6b 943 <<<<<<<<<<<

If the above is her, and Sarah Ann produced children from this marriage then the 1901 census ref in previous posts can't be her as she is too old!!

This might be John and Sarah with his parents in 1891:

              RG12; Piece: 2240; Folio 98; Page 13

They are both aged 23 and no children yet. He is a coal miner.

If you were to get the marriage cert (Q1 1891) this would help sort out if it's them. John's father is Richard Edwards a coal miner.

Going to try 1901 again. Unfortunately there's no place of birth for any of them in 1891 :(

Here's the same couple in 1901 (I hope!) and they have a dau Maggie aged 1 born in Wednesfield, which is Wolverhampton district, which ties in with the birth reg Kat posted earlier. The surname has been transcribed as Edward!

                  Here is John's death (probably)

                  Deaths Q3 1907
                  EDWARDS John aged 39 Wolverhampton 6b 299

                  Fits with her remarriage OK.

In 1901 Sarah A Edwards said she was born at Kings Norton, Worcestershire and she was 33 by then, so born about 1867/68.

Hmmmm I can't see her in 1871 or 1881....there are loads of Sarah Evans in the area though, so you would probably need her father's details from the marriage cert(s) to sort her out!

Thank you . It is 10 30 pm 'down under" so I am off to bed see you all in the morning .

It was a funny sight Merry , as she would have a big wooden spoon in her hand and they would run around the kitchen table ,to a small child she was wonderful

Her Marriage cert should give fathers name and occupation to confirm.

This birth fits better with the age she gives in the 1901 census
