  • Can you date my ladies please?

    Hello

There are three photos here I would love to date, to confirm identities.
i believe the second two are of the same lady, and that she is the mother of the first.

    All help gratefully received!

    Thanks
    Louise

Sorry the last one is rotated, I have tried and tried to put her right!

What super photos you have Louise.

I'm afraid I'm not too good at dating photos but the first one looks like Edwardian - perhaps 1907 ish?

The first certainly looks more Victorian, but more at the end of Victoria's reign - perhaps 1900 ish.

Hopefully someone with better knowledge will come along soon and help you out with a more definitive date.

Numbers 2 and 3 do look very similar though I agree!

Love the photos, the 2nd and 3rd photos are definitely the same lady, the first is her in what looks like it might be a mourning bonnet? The 2nd is her in service, she must have been proud to have her photo taken. I like the arty way the first has been coloured, shall go look that up, back later...:D

As for the pretty lady, I'm torn between La Belle Epoque and a Pre-Raphaelite, DON! are you there?

I think the first lady has leg of mutton sleeves which would date it between 1897 and 1900 (ish)

Brilliant photos by the way :D

I think the older lady is a cook............which was a position of responsibility.

                Hi Louise

Just wondered whether there were the names of photographers and/or their studios on any of the photographs

                  Hello

On the reverse of the young lady, all I can make out is

                  THV..........................
                  ...........Leominster.

I don't have the originals, they are with my husband's aunt, so although there is something written on the bottom of the second photo, I don't know what it says.

I think, if I have the right ladies, then the older lady was a nurse (not domestic) as it says on the census. All depends on the dates!

                  Thanks for your help!

                  Louise

The photograper could be T H Winterbourn(e) of Leominster - I've googled him and not found much - I guess you could try censuses and trade directories

The noses are very similar and there is something about the way they hold their heads. Are you sure the first one isn't an earlier picture of the same lady?
