Missing marriage

A long time since I've been on here, but now back with a question. I'm stuck trying to find a marriage between Stanley Beard and Florence Louisa Matilda (surname unknown). The 1939 Register has them living in Great Tey parish in Essex and gives their dates of birth as 1903 and 1901 respectively. Stanley is the son of Arthur Beard and Maria Chaplin and was born in Little Tey. Florence died in 1986 and her 3 forenames are shown on the burial record (Essex Burials). In 1939 she is listed as Florence L. Beard. It is possible that they were not husband and wife, but there is no trace of a Florence Beard as either a sister or other relative of Stanley. Does anyone have any clues about this?
