  • Pretoria, Union of South Africa

I am looking for some help to try and find the parents of Lieutenant 105810 Vincent Frederick William Mainwaring, 9th Field Training Regiment, Royal Artillery, born 03/05/1900, Pretoria, Union of South Africa. The DoB is taken from an army record and the only other detail I have is that he was the son of Mr & Mrs Piet Mainwaring.

Other details are that Vincent was married to Doris on 30/01/1926 at St George's Church, Portsmouth, Hampshire.

    He enlisted Stratford, London (23/03/1920).

Unfortunately, this is all that I have.

I found quite a few South African images that I needed on FamilySearch.org. Images of death certs were on there. Could be an unexpected place to search.

Thanks for the suggestion Anne. I've already given this a try, hence the appeal.

I've had a response to my email query and Gabriele has passed it to her colleague Semakaleng Mashifane who will check the necessary documents and get back to me with their findings.

I've heard back and the news is not good. Checks have been made for St Alban's without success.

Before I reply and enquire about St Mark's, are there any other logical places to enquire about?
