  • Unable to find a marriage for ...

George Garlick b. 1831, Didcot, Berkshire to Letitia Slade nee Grace b. 1830, Hagbourne, Berkshire - the 1911 census says they have been married for 50 years.

    Thanks for looking

I can't find them so far, not to say a marriage didn't take place, have you checked any children born to this couple

I can't find George Garlick on 1861 so far so I cannot check if he was a married man on 1861.
Letitia's first husband died in 1860, still can't find a marriage

I think this might be George in Islington in 1861:

His birthplace is given as Sutton, Berks, but Sutton Courtenay's only a few miles from Didcot.

He's working as a coachman, and your George was a carter later, so it might be the right man.
He's shown as married, presumably to the Mary Ann Garlick who's next on the list of servants.

George Garlick and Mary Ann Perrin were married in Kensington in 1859.

He was a coachman, father William Garlick, paper maker, whereas your George's father William was an ag lab in 1841 and apparently deceased by 1851.

Sorry, forget that; that couple were still together in 1871.

This looks more promising; a George Garbett from Didcot with wife Ann and son William, 8:

I can't find a marriage or likely birth for William under the name of Garbett or similar, but there is a birth for a William Garlick, mmn Hewett, in Wallingborough RD in 1853, and a possible marriage for George Garlick and Ann Hewitt in the same RD:

                    Marriages Jun 1852
                    Dawson Hannah Wallingford 2c 465
                    Garlick George Wallingford 2c 465
                    Hewitt Anne Wallingford 2c 465
Shippen Joseph Allen Wallingford 2c 465

William's with his grandparents (called Savoury?) and a younger grandchild (Ann Garlick, 6, born Oxford) in 1871.
Ann was born in 1864 and her mmn seems to be Gardener, so she presumably wasn't the child of George and Ann.

The first child of George and Letitia seems to have been Lucy Ann, born in Windsor RD in 1863.

                      This looks like Ann's death:

                      Deaths Jun 1870
                      Garlick Ann / 35 / Wallingford / 2c 233
