      I think you might have been given this site before, but just in case!!

      This is the GRO site that Lin mentions above. You have to register, but it is free and safe ...... it is also the site from which to buy bmds from July 1 1837 to the present-day.



      Click on Order Certificates Online

      Click on Search the GRO historical birth and death certificates ......

      Click on Register as an Individual (first time of using, after that click on Submit under Log In)

      Click on GRO Indexes


      then just follow instructions.


      It's easy to use, and it is where we all go to help you!!!


      Actually, of course, the ONLY way to really confirm that children are the offspring of certain parents is to buy the birth certificates ......... a pdf from the GRO site costs £6 by email ............ or find the baptism, but using this Index is the next closest, always assuming there isn't another couple with the same surnames having children at about the same time!
