I don't know about California but FamilySearch has images of US wills from some places. Can be seen free and a real bonus if they have the one you are after.
Anne
Does anyone know if you can obtain USA records online or otherwise, in particular wills ?
thanks
Ancestry:
About California, Wills and Probate Records, 1850-1953
This collection includes images of probate records from the state of California.
But in the US, Wills/probate are county-by-county. Ancestry doesn't specify if these are all counties, or just particular ones.
Ancestry has indexes of Birth Marriage and Death. Birth records may include MMN.
Social Security started in the 193X. SSDI does not cover everyone with a SSN, but as time passed since that date, more and more people enrolled in SS, and the SSDI became more complete.
Using the card catalogue on family search sometimes comes up trumps. Was looking at family in Sunderland and discovered the cemetery records are on there with images
