On 25 Nov 1817 William Johnson (of Hunmanby East Yorkshire) was married at Marton cum Moxby to Ellen Claxton otp. (Sources FMP - Yorkshire marriages & also Yorkshire marriage BTs.) The bride's surname is very clear on the BTs.
Can anyone find William & Ellen after this event, please? I'm wanting to chase up Ellen to find out her age and place of birth, as I have a potential Eleanor in mind for the bride.
IF I'm on the right lines, she was born into a NORTH Yorkshire family in 1790, but her elder brother moved into East Yorkshire and married at Seamer in 1812. (Seamer is the next village to Hunmanby.) There were 3 children born at Seamer before the brother John and family moved to live in a village the other side of Hunmanby. Please don't waste ANY of your time chasing up brother John as I have full details of him and all his many descendants.
In 1851, a William Claxton was in York, with his second wife and a son George from the first marriage. The census return records that George was born at Hunmanby, although I can find no corresponding baptism Unfortunately George died later that year, so I'm unable to compare with subsequent census returns.
I'm quite sure that John & William were brothers and I know that amongst other siblings, they had a sister Eleanor.
Whilst the village of Hunmanby seems to connect all three together, I would like to know more about this particular Mrs William Johnson in order to test out my theory.
