Does anyone have full access to ancestry and could kindly look to at this record, particularly the attestation paper? Thank you.
I have gone cross-eyed looking for this man in 1891 census and drew a total blank in England, so I gave Scotland etc. a try and found a possible in the Maryhill Barracks in Glasgow.
John was born Broughton West/Broughton in Furness and his parents were William WALKER (joiner) and Margaret PENNINGTON, living with others of their children in Broughton West. His birth index entry is WALKER, JOHN PENNINGTON GRO Reference: 1873 S Quarter in ULVERSTON Volume 08E Page 777
In later life he was a striker in a black steel works/blast furnace man.
