Does anybody know where I could look on the internet to find a map that would give me the 'register district' for a certain place in Wales...

That would be the ideal solution, but unfortunately its only relative up to 1974. I was interested in the early 1980's.
As Brett (the author) says "For each place listed, this index shows the county and registration district in which it was situated between 1837 and 1974, at which latter date the districts were considerably altered"DGJay

Ordnance Survey site gives the current electoral boundaries, don't know if that would help.
https://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/election-maps/gb/ Click on Westminster Constituencies to get the boundaries.Linda

If you find out what the current consituency is, if it is a new one, look it up on Wikipedia which will tell you when it was created, and from which old ones.
Eg. this one for Cynon Valley https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cynon_..._constituency) was formed from Aberdare and parts of Brecon and Radnor and Neath.
Also on wikipedia, lists of former UK constituencies and when they were abolished. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...lished_in_2010Linda

I think I have discovered where the district might be...with a combination of other pages from UKBMD and the ordnance survey maps.
Just a case now of waiting for the British Library to open again and try to find how to order Electoral Registers from Yorkshire..
Ah the good old days of when life was simple.....
Many thanks to all.DGJay
