  • Family Search

Expect most folk know this already but as I stumbled on it by chance thought it might help someone.

In Family Search, if you want to search a particular Parish

    Open Catalog
Fill in the Place name to Search
Choose from the films etc available

If, under Format, both a magnifying glass and a camera are shown, choose the magnifying glass first, search for your name/surname, open the record. On the right hand side it gives the film reference and also the image number (although it does say "no image available" above).

You can then return to choose the camera symbol and go straight to the image without working through the pages.

Other useful tools for parish searches:

maps.familysearch.org is a peculiar but useful tool. It allows you to identify a parish. It will then tell you what records exist at familysearch for the parish, what it's jurisdictions were - and tell you the nearby parishes (you can choose the radius).

Archer software allows you to choose a parish and jump directly to its search
