  • Catherine Roberts married 1843

in Montgomery(shire) ... is anyone please able to ascertain who she married?

I'm hoping it was Charles Hewitt but not yet been able to prove it.

Richard Hewitt was born in 1844, Montgomeryshire
    mother's first name: Catherine
    father's first name: Charles

I've checked GRO for his birth and mother's maiden name listed as Roberts.
Also found that Richard died Q4 1844.

    1851 census

    Charles Hewitt 50
    Catherine Hewitt 51
    George Roberts 17 step son
    Charles Roberts15 stepson.

Looks as though Catherine has been married before to a Roberts or had two children while unmarried.

Wow Lin, you have been busy ... your info fills quite a few gaps ... presume David Roberts died between 1836-1841 - is Catherine a widow in 1841?

Now wondering why mmn isn't listed as Jones on GRO for Richard born 1844 ?

In case you didn't know, FMP has Montgomeryshire baptisms etc
Thanks Sylvia ... I've found them quite useful.

I did have a quick look for a death for David but nothing stood out in those dates. Wondering if he was still alive and she never married Charles Hewitt or she married him much later in life.

I had a similar situation and they married after most of their children had married and took me aged to find the marriage.

Good luck with it. Don't think 1841 said whether married or widowed and just closed FMP. Coffee and chocolate await me!!!
