  • Can anyone read which Regiment or Corps please?

    image.jpg

The first bit says R.G.A. (Royal Garrison Artillery)
The last bit says "189 Siege Battery"

What does the bit in the middle say? Does anyone have any idea?

              Thanks Kat!

Hmm. I was rather hoping it was something I just couldn't read rather than being generally incomprehensible.

Qthanks Ann. I think your clearing office is right. I entered "clearing office late" into Google and it came up with Lewisham Military Hospital and "Gunner 35021, Clearing Office (late 325th Siege Battery), Royal Garrison Artillery. Died on 29th December 1917. Aged 28. Born in Kingsdown, County Dublin and enlisted Dublin. Buried in BROOKWOOD MILITARY ..."

My Alfred did get a gunshot wound to his right leg so maybe it's something to do with that.

Does anyone know if I can find out where he was when he was injured?
