Charles E Colthup b1871.

On this page many people, mainly but not always the Head, have an X in a circle against their name. Could this possibly be the informant? But Charles is the only one who has this symbol against his Relationship (which is the word 'head'). any idea what this might mean?

Yes, the circled x indicated informant. Don't know why he got two of them - probably the enumerator goofed and re-wrote it again
