  • Fuller

I have been looking for my nan's birth, on the 1911 Census England it has that she was born in Cliffe Nr Rochester Kent. I cannot confirm this as I have searched and cannot find a birth certificate. Name Lily Elizabeth Fuller born 14/12/1905 got this date from her death certificate, death 1973 registered at Chatham Kent. Father as I have a death certificate for him is Richard Henry Fuller born about 1858 death 1943 Orpington Hospital Kent. I have always known her mother as Alice Emma Skinner.

There are other children on that 1911 census with the surname SMITH - there is a birth of a Lily Elizabeth SMITH registered in STROOD district (which covered Cliffe) in 1906. It also appears that the "mother's" name has been overwritten to change the details to Fuller.

ahhh so Alice Emma's maiden name was KENT... I think that should be enough for Janice to work with now.

                            Lily's birth details

                            SMITH, LILY ELIZABETH

Not quite? Unfortunately that Lily Elizabeth appears to have died 1907 Dec. The mother is not Alice but also Lily Elizabeth (Kent) who married Albert Arthur Smith (1896 Dec) and had several other children. They are on 1911 census RG14 / 3842 / 181.

I think this area may be covered by the medway cityark website which has digital scans of all the parish records. They have most of that area covered and can produce some surprises...
