Thank you Janet, no he did not die in combat. I have searched Ancestry and Find my past military records but cannot find anything to do with his military service.

Val ............. that is correct, and I think they are also only available free to spouse or child if the spouse is dead (and with proof).

I'm not sure whether anyone can obtain the records for payment.

Thank you Val, You must be correct in your assumption given that i have made no progress online. I find that obtaining info offline a daunting process, but, so be it. If that is my next course of action then onwards and upwards. If anyone Knows of a shortcut to the information needed by me, I would be most grateful.
                    Kind Regards,
                    Ray.

Tried your advice, but it opens up a very complex website, you have to input information that you yourself are trying to find out, cannot hack it.
                      Regards.

Hello Lolitel, Researched the information you have kindly posted, but it appears that your man was not born in Swansea. It looks as if contacting Kew is the only answer. But i do not relish the thought, as i have used them to find information on the merchant navy career of my late father. It is complex and expensive, with the risk that you may not get the correct result. It is not easy.
                            Thanks anyway, Burt.

Hello Kat, yes it is only his military career i am interested in. I do have the date of his death. Having said that, i would not mind finding any information on his marriage and his children. I was once told that he was married in India and may be to a lady of Indian origin. Also that his spouse and children may have lived in Brecon where the barracks of the Welsh Regiment were based. But i have no proof of any of this.

                              Regards, Burt.

Well done Val, good work, the age is about right, 28, Harry was born 1912 in Swansea. If only the record displayed the name of the grooms father: Evan Charles Morgan, who had also served in the Welsh Regiment. According to the military pension records of Evan, Harry is listed as John Henn Morgan. Where did you find this information Val ? would i be able to access it to find the grooms father ?
                                  Regards,
                                  Burt.
