  • Help finding a family on the 1861

Hi, can any of you lovely lot find this family on the 1861?

    John Wilkin(s) b. 1834, Shepton Mallet, Somerset
    Harriet Wilkin(s) b. 1836, Bucklebury, Berkshire

They may have their daughter Harriet c.1860 (born in Kent)

On the 1851 John is in Somerset and Harriet in Berkshire, on the 1871, 1881, 1891 they are in Plumstead, Kent.

    TIA

I've been looking and looking, and nada! There are several family trees that have John and Harriet, but none seem to have found the 1861 Census

and that implies to me that there has been a bad transcription, a mixing of two families under one name, or they have been missed off the census.

    Is this John's baptism?

This looks like Harriet's birth registration, and so she should be in the 1861 Census

Lewisham is the Registration District that includes Plumstead

      Births Dec 1860 (>99%)

Going out now but maybe a search through the census pages will find them - as Sylvia said probably mangled or mistranscribed.

                Sylvia - yes that's them!
Katarzyna - yes I have her parent's on the 1861 mistranscribed.
Kylejustin - thanks, I didn't know that - I think they would of been in Lewisham (hopefully)!

Hmmm, might have to trawl the census for Plumstead / Lewisham for that year and see if they are mis-transcribed!

                Thanks

Plumstead is adjacent to Woolwich Arsenal - missing piece 407 - for the 1861 census. Let's hope they hadn't moved into that area:(
