  • Naturalisation

    Hi guys,

I hope there's someone out there who may be able to help me.

I have a man born in 1924 in Poland, who married in Leeds 1952 and did his Naturalisation in the 70's.

Is it normal to take that long for it to happen?

I thought it would have happened as soon as he actually arrived in the UK.

No, not straight away, there were and are various residence and other qualifications that need to be fulfilled first. Your example is quite a long time, however! Perhaps he didn't actually apply until then? It isn't compulsory.

      Thank you Anne.

I won't say his name as he may still live to this day but I'm also wondering if he was possibly a Polish Jew.
