  • Queen Victoria

am watching this wonderful new series, and just wondered would Victoria's marriage to Albert ,and their childrens births be in the records? if so what do I look under thanks.

I've seen Prince William's advertised before so I would assume so.
Lennon. Phillips. Thomas. Peacock. Tubridy. Burton.

I am the girl from that town & I'm darn proud of it.

1846 GUELPH, Helena Augusta Victoria, Princess
        St. George, Hanover Square.

        Will look for others.

1850 GUELPH, Arthur William Patrick Albert, Prince (Guelph is mistranscribed as Gudph)
But - 1853 ALBERT, Leopold George Duncan - no mention of a title at all and his last forename of Albert is missing from the index page.

so that's their surname ? didn't know that thanks Galloway, reason I wanted to be nosey was they got married in 1840 and their first child Victoria was born in 1840, according to what I read, I wondered how close it was to their marriage.

Val, Queen Victoria was married on 10th February 1840. Her first child, Princess Victoria was born on 21 November 1840, calendar period of 9 months and 11 days.

Nothing to sweep under the carpet there.:D

One of the things she complained about, Val, getting pregnant so easily - I don't think she consciously set out to have all those children and she didn't ever like small babies.

yes Janet she hated being pregnant cant say I blame her as it seems she only got chloroform on the 7th, she is actually lucky she only got 8 as most women in those days had lots more, very kind of you Sarah but I have been googling and found a lot about her, I love anything to do with her Elizabeth the 1st and Henry the 8th.

I think ancestry was advertising some months ago that you could trace Victoria in their records.

One will most likely be my Nanna's halfbrother's Grandson or Son. I think they both work on it. Obscene amount of Royals in that one. Up to Adam & Eve as well I think.

I find the whole Queen Victoria dynasty fascinating, Val. All those grandchildren and their marriages into so many European courts, and their PROBLEMS! So many human frailties and much unhappiness, all within the one family. I know they were privileged, but that's why there is so much documentation about their lives, warts and all. Also some very detailed examples of the great behaviour differences tolerated from males, but not females.
My grandmother was born in 1892 and when I was small, she used to tell me stories about "the old queen."

Wendy, I'd love a day at Osborne - the IoW has so many connections with Victoria and her family. I once did an escorted day trip from Christchurch to the Island and we spent some time at Whippenham, didn't even see Osborne, though :(
