I think it is the usual story. Every province has its own set of rules, and as you know Canada is very conservative on privacy.

If you give me the province and year, I will have a look and see what I can find.

I think that the local courthouse deals with probate in fairly recent times, which means a personal visit.

It is an alpabetical index. Perhaps your person is in there.
