Not suggesting this is the right way to go about it but, we'd been searching for a niece who'd left home about 15 years ago. We wanted to tell her that her grandfather was desperately ill. He passed away a couple of weeks ago and we were desperate to contact her. We knew roughly the area she is living but nothing showing up on any searches. My daughter suggested the local for sale pages on Facebook? She applied to become a member of that particular group and was accepted the night before the funeral. She immediately put a message on it , asking if anyone knew her cousin and within seconds had a reply. The person replying was happy to be a "go between" and we were able to get the message to "W". She wasn't able to attend the funeral but we recorded the service and in her own time, she wants to come and collect the recording and see us.
Don't know what caused this split in the family and don't want/need to know either but I hope that it will eventually bring her "back into the fold".
