I expect we've all read reports in local or national newspapers and spotted glaring errors due to our own local knowledge, they mangle place names, or misquote showing they weren't listening properly (the local rag did that to me!)

I've been reading a report on the closure of the family tailors shop in 1952 after 127 years. The reporter gets the last tailor's grandfather's name wrong, muddles him up with his 2x great grandfather (big clue is that they are talking about an event that happened prior to 1797) and called his great grandfather his great uncle.

Can there be any truth then that Roger Atkinson of Barnoldswick left the country for Bengal in 1827? He was buried in Barnoldswick on 28th Nov 1827.
