Can someone please give me some advice on how to research the details of a 1968 English divorce. I assume the National Archives will hold the information but would they release it?

unfortunately TNA do not keep copies of divorces so recently.

You need to know where the divorce took place (which Court). you can then apply for a copy of the decree nis IF it is your own divorce. If it is not your own divorce then the details of the divorce are private and you are very unlikely to get them - the solicitor involved will be the holder of the actual nitty gritty details.

You might be lucky and get a newspaper report of the divorce hearing if it was, erm, juicy. Newspapers were still printing details of divorces at that date but only if they were interesting or newsworthy.

Thanks OC. I have learnt that one has to apply to Gov.uk and it can cost as much as £65..................................didn't want one anyway)
