Thanks folks
Strangeways is waht I thought it was but wasn't quiet certain.
It was the 1881 census that caught my eye initially. by coincidence I am currently working in jersey at the moment. So I'm not the first Tackaberry on the island. Even found 43 Hill Street, which is now a Chinese takeaway.
I was then puzzled by the changing name of Amy's mother - Deslandes in the baptism record, Elizabeth in 1881 census and then Mary in 1891 census.
Thnk I found Amy's marrige record in Q1 1903, North Dublin.
Thanks again everyone.

it is certainly a bit of a mystery Dermot, Do you think that Deslandes is a spanish name?
I just entered Deslandes into Ancestry and there are a lot of names even going up to today with the middle name of Deslandes. I couldn't spot anything for her in the UK records, maybe she went overseas? there are 'some' Tackaberry's in USA/Canada [or should that be Tackaberries?] and as you know a lot in Ireland.
I wondered if there were more Tackaberry's in Jersey? I saw that there were several in the census maybe a burial for her/and or marriage for Fossey to whoever at the time.
have you found a birth ref for Amy? does it confirm Deslandes as the biological mother? do you have the marriage cert?
sorry for so many questions but I find it difficult to see quite how a woman can baptise her daughter and get married and then no other records. :conf:Julie
