I am trying to help a friend research a female relative, but we don't know what happened to her 2 husbands and would be grateful for help, please.
We know most details about Mary Ann, ie. previous and later life( she moved to New Zealand),..it's her two husbands we would like to track.
Mary Ann Elizabeth BELCHAMBER ,21, dau. of John Belchamber, a boilermaker married Thomas MAYER, bach. 21. in Stepney, Middlesex on 17 July 1871. He was the son of another Thomas, also a boilermaker.
A child Arthur Thomas MAYER aged 1 died in February 1873 at Silver Town, West Ham.
He is recorded as son of Thomas MAYER, boilermaker.
His grandfather, John Belchamber of the same address was the informant.
By September 1876, Mary Ann Elizabeth, 24 ,a widow, daug. of John Belchamber, Engineer married Henry LANE, 29, bach. a wire drawer, son of Luke LANE, a wire drawer.
A daughter, Mary Jane was born to Henry and Mary Ann Elizabeth in Woolwich in October 1876
A second daughter, Amy Florence was born to them in December 1878 in Bradford and registered in Newton, Lancaster district in January 1879.
Henry is a wire drawer on each certificate and Mary Ann Elizabeth was the informant on both.
By 1881 Mary Ann stated she was a widow and it is as Mary Ann LANE, that she later shows up in New Zealand.
Can anyone help find the deaths of her spouses, please?
With events so widespread and no previous history and locations of these men, I'm not sure where to look.
I did find a Henry, son of Luke being born in Monmouthshire c. 1847 and later moving to Birmingham with his parents, but don't know if he is the correct match ??
