I'm struggling to find a whole family on the 1871 census.
William Charles Trowbridge/Troubridge, b. 1843 Motcombe, Dorset
wife,
Eliza, b. 1843 Taunton Somerset
children,
George Frederick b. 1866 Gillingham Dorset
Albert E, b. 1868 Maiden Bradley, Wilts
Ernest Herbert b. 1870 Bourton Dorset
the next child, Charlotte Nellie Harriet was b. 1871 in Pontypridd, so they could be in Dorset, or already have moved to Pontypridd, or they could be somewhere in between. But wherever they are, I can't find 'em!
William and Eliza married in Bourton in 1863. In 1881, the family is in Burton on Trent. By 1891, William is a widower still in Burton on Trent; he marries again in 1893 and has a second family.
On a subsequent census, Ernest is listed as Herbert, and Charlotte as Nellie, so there's a family tendency for [some of] the children to be known by their second given name. Tried everything I can think of, but they still elude me, and I can't bear the irregularity of having all of them missing for a whole census.
Any help would be v.much appreciated.
Thanks
