  • certificates for relief of militia men’s families

    Hey,

would anyone have any idea what details are included within these records?
I have the Baptism of Nicholas Phillips born in 1794 which says his father Robert was a "Militia man"
There's a record on the Durham Records website for the certificate and I may have found matching Military records but I just wondered what was on these certificates before I paid for them.

    Thanks

Have no idea - but sounds like you'll get more than I did from private papers for the 11th British Militia in Angus in 1812 - only officer's named so not much help to me.

Wonder if the Durham records have anything for great uncle before he joined the regular army. Off to look. thanks.

Hey JBee, I'm so sorry that I've only just spotted your comment. Did you have much luck in finding your records at all? I hope that you did. I'll be applying for mine on Wednesday.
