  • Can anybody please read this address?

    Hi

Can anyone read this address please? It's from a baptism on Ancestry from Christ Church, Watney Street, Tower Hamlets, London. All other records on the page are readable, just mine is smudged. Typical!

    Thanks

It's illegible really. Can you not find the address on a census? If you know the family and the area then finding them on the nearest census record should be possible.
Eighteen -- Hadleigh, Suffolk; Reading, Berkshire
Hendry -- Ballymena, Antrim; Glasgow, Lanarkshire
Wylie -- Ballymena, Antrim; Glasgow, Lanarkshire

Hi James. No, I have no record of the family until she marries my gg grandfather. I know nothing of her parents - other than their names from various family documents - but it seems there were an awful lot of Edward and Eliza Williams in London at this time :(

I wonder if this could be Dean St. If you compare the 1st letter with Dec written in RHS margin they do look similar. You can search the area for streets around Christ Church, Watney St HERE

Dean St runs along side Christ Church parallel to Watney

Julie. I have spent the past hour trying to find the record but it's not there now!!!

It's the LMA baptism record for Mary Ann Elizabeth Williams, b 19 Dec 1882. Father Edward Williams, mother Eliza Williams. Christ Church Watney Street, Tower Hamlets. If anyone else can find it.

I have saved a copy and was going to pm you but can't see how I can do that

Why can't I find it today? It doesn't inspire confidence with my other searches...

                        Thanks Julie.

I'm a bit (a lot!) out of practice. Is there a way that I can see who was living at 36 Dean Street in 1881? I only have ancestry.co.uk

I'm not convinced it's a D. It looks more like an A or an O to me, possibly ending with an n or an m.

Alton sounds more likely as there is a long line i.e. possibly l in the middle.

There's a baptism further on with an address of Union Street so that's a possibility too.

Could it be Aitkin or Atkin Street - the curate was messy wasn't he!
I haven't found that road on the map Kat provided.
