  • Wills from Ireland

Hi, wondering if anyone has any experience of obtaining a will from Ireland. My gg-grandfather's will was proved at Limmerick 13 Mar 1885. I'm wondering if it is possible to get a copy. Anyone know the process?

From what I read, it seemes that if it still exists then it may be possible to see it in the reading rooms of the NIA. Not really an options for me at the moment, so can a copy be ordered?

    Cheers

Have you tried contacting The National Archives Dublin for a possible will? I have never found wills for any of my own Irish families, so unable to help you on that score, but I have acccessed wills through the reading rooms at the National Archives in Dublin. These wills have been mainly from those of prominent families/landowners. I am not sure what the NIA is?

You might also ask Elwyn in his thread of Research Offers.
