  • pauper burial in Newtown Montgomeryshire

Could anyone tell me where someone dying in Park street Newtown in 1859,would have been buried? He was Joseph MILLS who had no family in Wales and died of disease of the brain ! It stated the Green Newtown on the death certificate, which I presume was Park street where he was living in the 1851 census.I would be grateful for any information at all.Thank you

On the 1884 map, there are several chapels and a church with graveyard near to Park street.

There is a genealogy web site for Llanidloes which is a few miles away and details for Newtown Library. Someone from there would probably be helpful. http://llanidloes.com/genealogy/index.html

The first place to look is the parish church as it had a responsibility to bury paupers.
