  • Regiment help please

Would anyone be able to identify the regiment by the cap badge please?

Here are two of my father's cousins. They were brothers who went to the front and survived. The first, David was in the Machine Gun Corp and his brother Tom was in the South Wales Borderers.

I'm so proud of them and grateful to their generation for all they sacrificed for us. God bless them all.

The badge looks like a Royal Artillery badge, be it Royal Field Artillery or Royal Garrison Artillery, they are both the same.

If you have access to Ancestry you could at least find out in which section of the Artillery your man served in via the MIC records of the military section.

Incidentally the MGC cap badge was a pair of crossed Vickers machine guns surmounted by a crown. All these badges can be looked up on the web.

Whoever said Seek and Ye shall find was not a genealogist.

Thank you Grumpy. I'll look him up on Ancestry. I've been a member for about three years but have more or less only used the bog standard search areas of the site. :( Since joining this forum I have learned such a lot.
