  • William Henry Cadwallender

    easy name right?

    hmmn

I have this chap in my tree and I am trying to tie down his children.

I have William & Ruth on census with 'some' but I know from 1911 some had died.

looking I found Levi Cadwallender b.1879 Dodworth, Yorks, all well and good, found his baptism BUT he isn't with them on the 1881 census

then I found a burial for a Joseph Levi Cadwallender 1880 in Dodworth, ok, so that could possibly be him, BUT I found a baptism for a Joseph Cadwallender with parents Joseph & Elizabeth Cadwallender.

I think that Joseph & William were brothers but am not having much luck at the moment finding proof of this {am having a bit of a foggy day} so would appreciate some help.

I have found Joseph and wife Elizabeth on the 1901 cens: http://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bin...try&h=18479912

but not having much luck in finding them in previous. from looking at the 1901 I see that they have a daughter Fanny who was born in Dodworth, so they were there I just can't find them!

sorry for the long post but didn't want to leave anything out!

I have now found the family in 1841/1851/1861 [Joseph & William Henry are brothers]

their parents are Levi & Sarah Cadwallender

    1851:http://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bin...iv=1&ml_rpos=3
    Source Citation
    Class: HO107; Piece: 2020; Folio: 395; Page: 48; GSU roll: 87424

    1861:http://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bin...try&h=20200104
    Source Citation
    Class: RG 9; Piece: 1983; Folio: 44; Page: 17; GSU roll: 542897

I can't spot Levi & Sarah in later census, there is one death for a Levi Cadwallender in 1855 but if he is on 1861 census then it can't be him, can it?

I think that it might be Levi's father [another Levi!] I have tried looking on Familysearch but I don't know what they have done to the site but I find it very difficult to find anything of use on it nowadays!

I spotted that earlier Val, I *think* that is William Henry's grandad Levi, but I need to see if he had a brother John.. I was getting in a right tangle with them..

something isn't right with Ancestry at the moment either.. I can't get any BMD's [deaths] for a sarah robinson or anything for her in the census after her marriage to William.. I'm just not getting much in the way of results at all.

gonna call it a night can't seem to focus [sorry]

thank you for the help though :smilee:

anyways I have been tying myself up in knots trying to get my head around this lot.

Joseph Levi Cadwallender burial [1880] in Dodworth is now accounted for, and also the Levi Cadwallender b. 1879 d.1880

I know what I mean!.. :smilee:

It doesn't help that the surname is ripe for errors Cad-Wallend>>> Cad-Wallender>>Wallender and other variants
