  • Marriage by Banns

If a groom was married by Banns in 1754 at his Brides Parish would there be a record of where he was born.

    Regards

Not of where he was born, but of where he was resident at the time. If he didn't live in the same parish as the bride, the marriage register should have described him as "of the parish of...." and banns would have been called in both parishes.

don't forget that the tradition was that a marriage should take place in the bride's parish, not the groom's.

and you may not get the place name of where his parish is.

I've had that one .................. his parish was a common name for a church, and so was no help :(
