  • [CyndisList] The past couple of months

    Hi all -
This is just a quick note to let you know what I've been up to the past
couple of months and why I haven't had any updates to send you. It started
with a genealogy cruise at the end of November. I was a speaker and
attendee and it was a lot of fun. But it came between Thanksgiving and
Christmas which is always a very busy time of year, so it threw off my
normal schedule. In general, December tends to be a slow time for me
work-wise because of all of my other obligations, so a quiet December isn't
unusual for Cyndi's List. Then I hurt my back on Christmas and was down on
the couch for a while. Not long after that I went on my annual two-week
trip to Salt Lake City for research and business meetings. As I left on my
trip I was just starting to get sick. I spent most of my two weeks on
antibiotics, a nebulizer, and a lot of cough drops and cough syrup. By the
time I got home it was pneumonia. So, the last two weeks have been rough.
I'm starting to feel better, but I'm still tired, weak and coughing a lot.
Just in time to go to Salt Lake City again for the FGS and RootsTech
conferences February 11-14th. I'm really hoping that I continue to get
better and it doesn't came back to haunt me again while I'm there. During
this entire 2 months I have also had a lot of administrative work to do in
the background. And in case you didn't know, I am the only one here to work
on all of this. It is a one-woman show. I am also the FGS 2015 Publications
Chair, so I have been responsible for the registration brochure, conference
guide, and the syllabus, all of which are completed. I am now a member of
the newest ProGen Study Group, which is a great learning program. I am also
a single mother of a teenage son who is a senior in high school. Suffice it
to say that my life has been a little overloaded of late.

The nose is now back to grindstone, so you will be getting regular updates
from me again. I appreciate your patience with me.

    Cyndi
