I am new here. I am from France but live in Quebec, Canada. I am quite familiar with french genealogy but novice with british one.
My great grandfather was Walter Rider Shephard. I was born in 1878 or 1879, but I don't know where nor his parent' names.
He was married with Ellen Sophia Lowing (1906 in South Stoneham, Hampshire). They had a son, Lawrence Arthur Walter Shephard born in 1909 in Coventry, Warwickshire. But E.S. Lowing was not my great grand mother, because Walter had 2 illegitimate children (Gilberte born in 1915 and Maurice, my grandfather, born in 1918 in London) with Marie-Suzanne Hallard. I think she was his secretary or something like that.
Walter was a mechanical engineer and he was section director in the Ministry of Munitions, and he was appointed to be an Officer of the Civil Division of Order of the British Empire on 3rd June 1918 in recognition of his services.
Could somebody help me to find his birth information (date and location) and his parents?
Thank you in advance,
Marianne Cheveau
