  • Sister perhaps.

I have found my grandmother and grandfather's marriage certificate dated 5th January 1903.
William Enos Rosser 1876 - Mary Ann Smith 1883 Parish of Abersychan in the county of Monmouthshire.

I notice that the witnesses are William J Smith which I think could be my grandmother's brother and
Lilian Rosser, whom I have no idea of and can't find any information on.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Have you found Lilian in census returns?
There only seems to be one living in South Wales - born Pontnewynydd, living in Pontypool in 1891, aged 6.
Still in Pontypool in 1901 & in 1911 near Newport, employed in a tin stamping works.

She may turn out to be a friend or relative if you do a bit more digging.

Thanks Janet. really good information. I am now thinking that perhaps she could have been a cousin.

Can I ask please, where did you get the information about emplyment in the tin stamping works.

          1911 census return.

Was William Enos the son of a Nathaniel?

I think Lilian MAY have been the daughter of an Alfred Rosser who married a Mary Ann Rosser (daughter of a Nathaniel Rosser) in 1882.
Maybe Lilian was a friend of Mary Ann Smith and it was through her that William & Mary Ann met?????

Was Mary Ann Smith a dressmaker at any time?
I think Lilian was recorded as a dressmaker in 1901 census returns.
