What registration district do I need?

Hi All,

Would anybody know what registration district Oxford Street, London would have been in in 1839/40?

I am looking for the birth certificate of Elizabeth Simpson who was born 26 December 1839 on Oxford Street and was baptised 16 August 1840 at St James, Westminster but noting is standing out for Elizabeth Simpson born Dec Qtr 1839 or Mar Qtr 1840.

Thanks for the link Edna, I do always check ukbmd but the problem is I have no past experience of researching in London and have no idea which district Oxford Street would be in, and as there is no list on roads per reg district I am completely stumped.

Thanks Kat, I just remembered that FMP lists the registration district in the search results for the census returns and is does say Marylebone (this used to drive me mad on the old FMP so god knows how I managed to forget that!). A quick check on the GRO shows a Female Simpson registered in March Quarter 1840 so fingers crossed this is my Elizabeth!
