Would be eternally grateful if anyone could locate this Smith family in 1851 or after.
Source Citation: Class: HO107; Piece: 832; Book: 14; Civil Parish: Whittingham; County: Northumberland; Enumeration District: 22; Folio: 20; Page: 13; Line: 19; GSU roll: 438892.
They are living at Powburn, Glanton South Side in Whittingham, Northumberland
John Smith 45 born in Scotland - bricklayer
Mary Smith 40 born in Scotland
Ann Smith 15 born in Scotland
Edward Smith 12 born in Scotland
That's the last I can find of John, Mary and Ann Smith.
.................................................. .................................................. ....
Edward Smith marries Helen Farmer of Edinburgh on 2nd Jul 1853 in Newcastle upon Tyne - no mention that his father is deceased so assume still alive.
Edward and Helen have 4 children
John born 1853 in Newcastle
Margaret born 1855 in Newcastle
Ann born 1857 in Edinburgh
Mary born 1859 in Edinburgh
In 1861 census Edward and Helen are back in Edinburgh at 221 High St Old Stamp Office Close and Edward is also a bricklayer like his father.
Children John, Ann and Mary are with them but no Margaret who I think has died.
Source Citation: Parish: Edinburgh High Church; ED: 18; Page: 7; Line: 8; Roll: CSSCT1861_128.
Helen Smith dies in 1861 in Edinburgh.
In 1871 census Edward is in Linlithgow as a boarder and still a bricklayer
but no sign of his children, John, Anne or Mary.
I've searched for a death for Edward Smith but couldn't find one with occupation as a bricklayer nor in the census's.
Wonder if he moved to where his parents and sister were living wherever that was or if the family emigrated.
Any help with this much appreciated.
