Hi Val
If Charles is 43 in 1901, then when the banns were read in 1887, he would have only been 20. Maybe his parents objected, especially as Charlotte seems to have been 19yrs older (i.e. nearly twice his age) than him?
Just thinking out loud really.
Have you found them in 1891?

Charlotte had been baptised 26 March 1837 in Tangmere, Sussex to James Davis and Charlotte Lenman who had married in the same place 14 January 1837. birthplace of Tangmere matches with 1901 census.
There is a public ancestry tree with totally different parents and birthplace for Charlotte which is strange as the familysearch record for Charlotte and Ambrose's marriage shows her father as James. There is no mention of a second marriage for Charlotte in the tree. Ambrose died in Lambeth in 1884.Last edited by GallowayLass; 13-10-14, 13:47.

sorry I disappeared had to go out, thanks very much everyone for your input, will check them out ,I saw that tree too ,Charles married again in 1906 so was trying to find when Charlotte died I found one in 1908 Marylebone and another in 1906 Epsom Surrey ,although the person with that tree has her dying in Warwickshire Birmingham in 1907 which seems odd.Last edited by Guest; 13-10-14, 15:25.
